Class 3 – Flammable Liquids

  • Products or substances that are liquids, a mixture of liquids or liquids containing solids in solution or suspension that give off a flammable vapour (flash point) at temperatures less than or equal to 60°C
  • Flash point: the lowest temperature at which the application of an ignition source causes the vapours of a liquid to ignite within a test vessel
The lower the flash point, the higher the risk
  • Once a liquid is determined to be flammable by definition, it is assigned to one of the three Packing Groups based on its flash point and initial boiling point
  • There are no Divisions for Class 3
