150 kg Gross Mass Exemption

  • Parts 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 do not apply to the handling, offering for transport or transporting of dangerous goods on a road vehicle, a railway vehicle or a ship on a domestic voyage if:
    • each shipment of dangerous goods is in a quantity less than or equal to 150 kg (330 lbs) gross mass
    • except for Class 2 (Gases), each means of containment (package) is 30 kg (66 lbs) or less gross mass and in a good quality package
      • The package must be a small, means of containment designed, constructed, filled, closed, secured and maintained so that under normal conditions of transport, including handling, there will be no accidental release of the dangerous goods that could endanger public safety
    • for Class 2, Gases, they are in one or more small means of containment in compliance with the requirements for transporting gases in Part 5, Means of Containment
    • the dangerous goods are in a quantity or concentration available to the general public and are transported
      • by a user or purchaser of the dangerous goods, or
      • by a retailer to or from a user or purchaser of the dangerous goods
