Class 3 – Flammable Liquids

  • Products or substances that are liquids, a mixture of liquids or liquids containing solids in solution or suspension (for example paints, varnishes, lacquers, etc.) that give off a flammable vapour (flash point) at temperatures less than or equal to 60°C
  • Flash point: means the lowest temperature at which the application of an ignition source causes the vapours of a liquid to ignite within a test vessel.
– The lower the flash point, the higher the risk.
  • Once a liquid has been determined to be flammable by definition, it is assigned to one of the three Packing Groups base on its flash point and initial boiling point.
There are no Divisions for Class 3.
